A Prefeitura Municipal de Caetanópolis, por meio da Secretaria de Cultura, antecipou no último domingo (19), a comemoração do “Dia Nacional da Consciência Negra” que neste ano caiu na segunda-feira (20). Aconteceram na Praça da Matriz de Santo Antônio, Workshop Afro-Cultural, Roda de Capoeira, Hip Hop, Congado, danças afros e exposições.
Vale destacar o grupo de dança da cidade de Mariana, composto por: Giovane, Kesley e Vinicius, que brilharam em sua participação. Também o coreógrafo Rubinho mostrou sua dedicação com brilhante atuação.

“O idealizador do “Dia Nacional da Consciência Negra” foi o poeta, professor e pesquisador gaúcho Oliveira Silveira (1941 – 2009). Ele era um dos fundadores do Grupo Palmares, que reunia militantes e pesquisadores da cultura negra brasileira, em Porto Alegre.
Em 1971, mesmo ano de fundação do grupo, Oliveira propôs uma data que comemorasse a tomada de consciência da comunidade negra sobre seu valor e sua contribuição ao país. Escolheu o dia 20 de novembro, por ser o possível dia da morte de Zumbi dos Palmares, que ocorreu em 1695.
Era muito mais significativo e emblemático do que comemorar o dia 13 de maio, ‘Dia da Abolição da Escravatura’, quando o regime escravocrata estava falido e não havia mais como se manter.”
